What Re:Vault is
Re:Vault is a free study browser and workspace. It has flashcards, notes, a focus timer, books, worksheets, study tools, and a browser for opening other websites inside Re:Vault tabs. No account is needed.
Not for use during tests
Re:Vault is not for use during tests or exams. If a test's rules say no other sites or apps, that includes Re:Vault.
What the in-page browser does
The browser loads other websites through Re:Vault's own servers, so they open inside Re:Vault tabs. A school network sees connections to Re:Vault's addresses (listed below), not to each website a student opens.
For https sites, which is almost all of them, the connection is encrypted from the student's browser to the site, so neither Re:Vault nor the network can read the pages. For a few sites that need it, Re:Vault uses a backup server connection, where our server fetches the page itself. Re:Vault does not store which sites a student opens, with two small exceptions in our server logs, described on the privacy page.
By default, Re:Vault writes the address of each opened page in an encoded form inside its own links, so the address does not show there as plain text. This is the "Hide addresses" setting described below.
Privacy quick-hide settings
Re:Vault has optional settings that change or clear what is on screen. We list them here so you know exactly what they do:
- Tab title and icon. Changes the title and icon on the browser tab, including to look like another site, such as Google Classroom.
- Open inside about:blank. Opens Re:Vault inside an about:blank page, so the address bar shows about:blank.
- Always ask before leaving. Asks for confirmation every time the page closes or reloads.
- Quick hide. One key switches the screen to another page (Google Classroom unless the student picks another).
- Hide addresses. On by default at Standard, as described above. Its strongest level also scrambles the address bar and tab titles, and swaps the letters on Re:Vault's own pages for look-alike characters. This page always shows plain text.
All of them except Hide addresses are off until a student turns them on. They sit in Settings, Privacy and safety, under "Advanced: quick-hide", which starts folded shut.
Study Hall
Study Hall is Re:Vault's live study chat. It is for ages 13 and up, moderated by real people, and has no private messages, voice or video. How Study Hall is moderated.
Where Re:Vault runs
Main Re:Vault addresses:
- endis.rest
- endiseducation.org
- ajhsvault.org
- endis.college
- practice.rest
- auth.endiseducation.org
- status.ajhsvault.org
Sign-in uses auth.endiseducation.org, and our status page is status.ajhsvault.org.
Re:Vault also runs on other addresses, including ones other people set up and point at our servers, so this list is not every address. Re:Vault's own pages carry this marker in their HTML, so a content-aware filter can recognise Re:Vault on any address:
<meta name="generator" content="Re:Vault">
Re:Vault's own app pages load their fonts and page code from Re:Vault's servers, and reach outside services only in these cases:
- Google Analytics, for now, while we finish moving to our own private counter.
- On a few approved Re:Vault addresses, labeled ads from an ad partner may show on the start page and under the Books and Worksheets lists, in a sealed frame, never inside anything a student opens. Students can turn ads off in Settings, Show ads.
- When a student starts something that needs it: a Linux desktop (CheerpX by Leaning Technologies, and its disk images), the on-device Study Helper model download (Hugging Face), or signing in with Google or Discord.
Websites opened inside Re:Vault connect to their own servers as usual.

- Study Hall: ages 13 and up only, with filters that stop personal details and sexual content and real moderators who read reports.
